Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

age for custody.

what is the age for the custody papers not not be important anymore? is it 16, when they can move out, or is it 18, when they are able to live on their own?. Or is it just when the courts say the parents dont have to live with them, or they dont have to take care of them anymore?. i dont get how this works. please explain!
