Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Canada

AM I entitled to half of this money

My parents passed away, they owned a camp my brother and i put the camp in his name , with a verbal agreement that we would be able to use this camp,(this was in front of the lawyer) he has since sold this camp without notifying me.He received $17,000 and has since spent the money. There was no will for either parent. This was an agreement we made after the passing of the both of them. Am I entitled to part of the monies received from this sale.

Yes, with valid proof of the agreement but unless your brother has other assets you could spend a lot of time and money going nowhere. Why did the lawyer let you do this? who was his client? You might want to sue the lawyer ( his insurers) for his negligence in failing to protect your interests if he was your lawyer or the estate lawyer or did not advise you in writing to get independant legal advice.
