Re: renewin or getting a new visa

Under US law, once a nonimmigrant visa expires the visitor cannot obtain an extension or new visa without returning home. I don't think Canada is any more liberal, but don't know for sure.

Under US law, if the visitor stays longer than 6 months past the end date of his I-94 card, he can be denied entry to the US for at least 3 years.

Re: renewin or getting a new visa

Dear Inquirer:

Your friend needs to consult with an immigration attorney in the US to discuss all of her possible options to work and or/remain permanently in the US. She most likely would need to retun to Sweden before attempting to enter the US as a tourist, as the DHS would see that she has already been away from home for several months and violated her status in Canada.

I recommend that you email [email protected] or visit www.hanlonlawgroup.com if you would like to schedule an appointment for a confidential consultation to discuss this matter further.
