Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

falsely accused and wanting compensation

I was falsely accused by a once so called friend of stealing his vehicle. I was arrested (which I posted bond ) then I hired an attorney and I am now going through court. It seems they dont have any or enough evidence (other than hear say) to convict me or take me to trial and now are trying to get me to plea to a misdemeanor and/or etc..I want justice !!! Is there any way to get my money back for the amount I have done put out ( bond, lawyer, travel, loss wages), and for defamation of character and for any thing else through a civil court? If so, can I still sue even though I would accept taking a misdemeanor dropped down from a felony?

You have a lawyer; it would probably be a fine idea to talk with him or her about this stuff.

But no, if you take a plea bargain, you can't very well make a good case that you were falsely accused. When you plead guilty, the law has a funny way of considering you guilty.
