Is there a not guilty by reason of insanity defense in the state of colorado?

Yes, but it is really difficult and if found NGRI, you can spend the max prison sentence of the charges in the state mental hospital. I have visited. It can be highly unpleasant. It is at least as bad as a prison. It is very difficult to get out once in. Wade into that pool slowly.
