Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

Divorce and visitation by grandparents

My son is divorcing his wife. Her parents are insisting we help support her and the two children, even though we would have to use credit cards to do so. I realize I have no legal obligation to support, but it has become a ''pay to play'' situation where our visits with these grandchildren are severely restricted for a number of spurious reasons mainly because we haven't paid. I hate to be blackmailed, but eventually I won't get to spend any time at all with these grandchildren if I don't pay. Also, I don't want to fund the same pot of money that is paying her lawyers. So, regarding the grandchildren, what are my options?

Re: Divorce and visitation by grandparents

You can file for grandparent visitation rights. You can also share some of the visitation time with your son if he will bring the children over to your house.

You have no obligation to pay to the parents/grandparents of the children. Your son has an obligation to pay what the court has or will order.
