Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

Whistleblowing and Defamation of Character

I was working for a large corporation hired to do asset protection. What I was not told upon hiring and have since been told is that management at this corporation had a strong dislike for the asset protection department. I have been harrassed (not sexually), intimidated and generally been made to feel uncomfortable. The more that I exposed management staff making errors in regards to asset protection the more uncomfortable they became. The decided to say it was either them or me. I was let go due to this and they have chosen to write on discharge papers that I was let go due to insubordnation and giving false information to police. I refused to sign these papers This is completely untrue and they have caused me great distress over this. Can I sue in civil court for wrongful termination due to whistleblowing or can I sue for character defamation? Also how can I obtain my personal file which contains all of the letters I wrote trying to protect myself againist the harrassement and hostile working conditions I tried to file within the company. I believe this also had a hand in them letting me go.

Re: Whistleblowing and Defamation of Character

Hello. The question that you have asked is within a very specialized area: Employment/wrongful termination law. I do handle civil law questions, but since this is in such a specialized area, you need to speak with an employment law attorney.

I can recommend one good employment law attorney in Denver:

Dennis Walker, 303-399-4633... he has plenty of experience, and your first consultation telephone call with him will be no charge.

Again, this is a very specialized area... sorry that I did not know the answer to your question. Hope this helps. David Colt.
