Legal Question in Military Law in Colorado

Harassment in the Military

I am a service member being harassed by another service member. This is not sexual harassment. This is just harassment. I am researching previous harassment cases in the military (if any) and what the decisions were. I believe a regulation of United States Military Personnel Command may be helpful, however, I have been unable to find this regulation.

Re: Harassment in the Military

Is this person who is doing the harassment above you or below you in the chain of command. If they are above you, then I suggest you find the UCMJ article that talks about "redress of grievances against the commander." This powerful article provides that your complaint will be forwarded all the way up the line to the Secretary of the branch of service in which you are serving. As a result of the exceptional paperwork load created by a complaint under this article, most commanders tend to deal with the complaint at the unit level. I happen to know that this particular UCMJ article has been very helpful in getting reassignments based on this kind of situation.

Sorry I don't have the article right here with me today, but its called "Redress of Grievances Against the Commander" and it is a powerful tool for fixing problems.
