Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Connecticut

Settlement coming my way.

I had a settlement award of over $100,000. The defendent has filed an appeal so we are going through those ropes now.

I also have debt of about $100,000 for which I am considering filing bankruptcy.

You can probably guess my question; But will the bankruptcy trustee use the settlement money to settled debts, if I also win in appeals court?

Yes. Some of the settlement would be exempt, but the trustee would def. be looking at the rest and would jump into the appeal.
