Legal Question in Business Law in Connecticut

Dealing with Car dealerships

If you sign a contract with a dealership to buy a new car and you thought the deal was complete can they keep calling you in to rework a deal. All the papers were signed by both the dealership and us?

Re: Dealing with Car dealerships

That depends on what "exactly" you signed, not so much what you "thought" you signed.

It's very difficult to answer your question without reviewing the document(s) you signed. It's also difficult to answer because I don't know what you mean by "rework the deal."

If in fact you had a valid contract for purchase of the vehicle and they aren't delivering to you the exact vehicle you contracted to buy, then you could have a breach of contract action. You would have to sue them in court for specific performance- meaning they have to provide the vehicle you contracted to buy. If that particular vehicle is not available without the dealer's good faith belief, then you may not be successful in your lawsuit.

If you both entered into a valid purchase and sale of the vehicle and the vehicle is available, but they are just trying now to get more money out of you, then the answer is much different. You do not have to "rework" the deal and they have to sell you the vehicle.
