Legal Question in Technology Law in Connecticut

Is it Legal for someone to enter your computer via the internet and deny you acc

Ive came across a problem that Im hoping you may help me with. Someone threatened to take away my access to my Yahoo account because of political disagreements at a Yahoo group web-site and have apparently done such. In addition I can no longer access my Hotmail account from my home computer. Both accounts can be accessed from my work computer so I know the accounts themselves are still intact.

When I try to go into Yahoo or Hotmail I receive continual access messages from other sources via my McAfee protection every 10 seconds or so. In addition Ive located a message within my system while off-line that states Yahoo Compression Damaged as well as two other statements similar.

My question is: Is it legal for someone to come in to ones computer and do such? If not, what recourse do I have? This person claims to be a Webmaster and stated publicly through a public posting that she would deny me access to my accounts.

Thank you.

Re: Is it Legal for someone to enter your computer via the internet and deny you

It is not legal to hack into someone's home computer over the phone or high speed access line. However, the first step in your case would be to immediately contact Yahoo and report the problem and see what response you get. As a private company Yahoo may be within it's rights to deny you access to their servers.
