Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

Debt Beat Business Partner.

A friend convinced me to get involve in an export business venture with him in 1994 while I lived in Nebraska. Most of the cost of the goods were charged to my credit cards. Soon after the goods were sold in 1997 he kept the proceeds and was out of touch. I have been stuck with the bills and the interest charges till date. In 1999 he promised to pay half the cost including the interest charges in monthly payments starting 1/200. Since then he has made just 4 payments and then discontinued. Am still paying for the cradit card bills. What are my legal options ?

As to the credit card bills, yeah, you're stuck with 'em.

As to your former partner, you've gotta track him down, find out if he has any assets, and if he does, sue him.

Whether you can WIN will depend on what you have from him in writing. If you have NOTHING in writing yet, and he won't admit that he owes you, you're probably sunk. BUT, if you know where he is, start writing to him in a sympathetic way, like you're asking him for help, and try to get him to confirm what your arrangements were. If he falls for that, and writes you a letter confirming that you and he were to be partners, share and share alike, confirming how much he got for the stuff he sold, and that he is supposed to pay for the goods, and was supposed to pay half of the credit card bills, YA GOT 'IM!

Good Luck.
