Wrong person handed summons

Am I obligated to contact anyone and who if I was served a civil summons for debt and I am not the person who should have been served? It was the person I bought my house from 3 years ago, the server didnt want to hear me tell him I was not that person. Thanks

Is your name on the summons? If it is, then you must answer to the court. However, if your name is not on the summons then ignore it.
