dog on lease now they want us to get rid of him
Our dog is on the lease. The landlords want us to get rid of him after being here almost 6 months. The landlord wife is claiming to have breathing problems and it said it 'might' be the dog. They admitted they are not sure. She is allergic to dogs but our dog is never on their side of the house (we have a chihuahua) nor does she ever enter our side (we are in a duplex). They gave us 4 days to find a home for him which is impossible and I dont think it is fair to get rid of him without any proof it is him causing her problem. We knew them years prior to living here, she has always had breathing problems, anxiety/asthma, they owned a dog themselves (a big dog, not a little dog like our chihuahua) that they kept outside and in their basement. They have bunnies that the landlord husband claims she never touches and they are kept outside/in the basement at times. What are my legal rights? I do not want to give up our dog, he is just a baby 1 year old and we bought him because our last chihuahua passed away after 12 years. Is there any way of proving its not the dog or if it is the dog? We love this dog and do not think he should have to go because they 'think' its him. We have no where to send him either. Please help!

If you signed a lease specifically allowing the dog to remain on the property then you are protected. Unless there is another provision in the contract allowing the landlord to change or alter the terms of the contract, your dog should remain. It seems to be a matter of interpreting the lease.
