Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

My girlfriend had dropped my personal belongings like shoes, clothes etc at my aunts house while I was gone and now that I want the stuff back a week later my aunt won't untill I pay her money I had borrowed. Is that legal

The issue isn't whether it's "legal." If you sued her to get the stuff back she would probably sue you back for the money. Why not just pay her what you owe her.
