Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Property I never knew I had

I have just learned that I am the sole heir to some property, some 2.6 acres of land in Bethel, Connecticut, that was sold to a couple by their paying the back taxes. This land was owned by an Alfred Sharp who died in 1879, and it has come down to me as the sole surviving heir. I never knew of this property until about a week or 2 ago, nor that I was the sole heir, when I received a request to ''qut claim'' it. I did not sign any such release. I am wondering just what my rights are concerning this. Is it an acceptable or reasonable practice to ask for money for this property from the people who purchased it in a tax lein forclosure.

Thank you.
