Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

real estate taxes

I bought a house and credited the seller at closing for taxes paid to the city. After the closing the seller called her mortgage company and asked it to stop the tax payment and refund the money to her. The mortgage company called the city and stopped payment. No one told me and now I'm in tax foreclosure. I'm going to get stuck paying these taxes for the second time.l I know that the Seller did something wrong, but my question is... did the Mortgage Company?

Re: real estate taxes

Probably not, unless you can show that the Mtg Co knew the sale had already taken place.
