Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Delaware

Duplicate injury lawsuit

Recently settled an injury lawsuit, that started as a national class action. I inadvertantly, made contact with 2 law firms, from 2 different states requiring the same information. The initial contact person was from a different state, so it was about a year before I realized that I was giving the same info to 2 different firms. The firm that settled the case, I actually met with and was in constant contact. The other firm was sporadically corresponding by mail. Since my initial settlement, I've received a settlement option on the other class action suit. I need to know if I'm entitled to this addtional settlement or if there will be repercussions? What do I need to do regarding the other firm, if I'm not entitled? Any help or direction that you can offer will be appreciated.

Re: Duplicate injury lawsuit

The issue as you describe it is not entirely clear, but it sounds as if you are talking about whether you can collect twice from the same defendant(s) for the same injury. To do that sounds like fraud to me. An explanation of the situation to the second law firm is in order so they do not spend any more time on your claim.

This is general information for discussion purposes. We would have to form an attorney-client relationship for me to give legal advice.
