I am sorry for your loss. You may be able to sue the driver of the other car if he or she was negligent and caused the accident leading to your mother's death. I am not a doctor, but I wouldn't want to be hit by a car going that fast. Check the police report. Did the police officer witness the accident or go by the statements of the other driver?

More information is needed, including where your mother crossed the street, where the accident occurred, etc. You may be able to sue the driver if his negligence caused the accident. If you need more information, you can contact me.
