Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in District of Columbia

Debt Collection/Judgment

My wife was served a summons to appear in court for a debt she owes. Her name is the only one that appears on the complaint. Is there any way I (the husband) can be attached to a judgment entered against her? What is the likelihood that that property will be taken to satisfy the debt?

Re: Debt Collection/Judgment

Property such as your home which you, probably, jointly hold with your wife,"by the entireties", as they say in the law, cannot be seized and sold by creditors to satisfy a debt owed only by your wife.

These creditors can, however, seize and sell or

confiscate property, title to which is held only in her name.
