Legal Question in Family Law in District of Columbia

How is it that the non-custodial parent was found in contempt and went to jail with a purge amount of $1000 and I only received $468 of that collected which was the total? He has another case in DC and I believe that is where the remaining balance of the $1000 went. How is it that I am the individual who went to court for MY case and the other case benifits? Please explain.

Thanks

You should probably talk with the Paternity and Support Office at DC Superior Court(4th Flr)

or the DC Child Support Enforcement Office in order to clarify this matter.

Did you have a lawyer? Was the other side represented? As attorney Hendrickson stated, you should contact the DC offices. However, more importantly, you should hire an lawyer to represent you. A lawyer should be able to tell you exactly what occurred and advise you on how to prevent such problems in the future.
