Legal Question in Real Estate Law in District of Columbia

deed

I own my home free and clear. However, I would like to add my daughter to deed. She is single, 46yrs old and has lived with me since her birth. I currently reside Wash, DC and I recv Homestead and Senior Tax reduction on my property taxes. I will remain sole owner of my home. But I do not want to lose my property tax reductions. Please advise. Thanks

Re: deed

You would be best advised to consult with a tax accountan/advise familiar with the effect of DC tax laws with respect to the kind of deed of gift which you have are proposing to make to your daughter.

This person should be able to advise you as to whether there are any issues (including your daughter's income which you haven't mentioned) which might make a difference with respect to your claimed deductions.
