Legal Question in Disability Law in Florida

How many handicap parking spaces does my employer need to provide? We have over 800 employees, all located in the same building but have only approx 10 handicap spaces available. Since there aren't enough handicap spaces available, I did ask if it were possible to have more added but was told it would take 3 regular spaces to make 2 handicap spaces so there won't be any changes in the near future. Thank you in advance for any advise.

Attached below is the number of accessible parking spaces required per parking lot in accordance with the Florida Building Code. Although there is a direct connection with the number of occupants vs. number of parking spaces, It is not determined by the number of people that occupy the building (occupants) but by the number spaces in the parking lot.

Total Parking in Lot Required Minimum Number of Accessible Spaces

1 to 25 .......................................................... 1

26 to 50 ........................................................ 2

51 to 75 ........................................................ 3

76 to 100 ...................................................... 4

101 to 150 .................................................... 5

151 to 200 .................................................... 6

201 to 300 .................................................... 7

301 to 400 .................................................... 8

401 to 500 .................................................... 9

501 to 1000 ................................................. 2% of total

1001 and over ................ 20 plus 1 for each 100 over 1000

Hope this helps answer your question.
