Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

can i file bankruptcy outsie my home county so that the people i work with will

i need to file bankruptcy,however i work for a police dept. and i need to file outside my home county so that the people i work with want know about this. can i do this.

You need to file in the county of your residence. Although bankruptcy is a matter of public record, your co-workers won't know that you filed unless you have told them or they did some research.

The law requires that you must have resided within the federal district where you file ,for a period of at least 180 days prior to the date of filing. So you see, it would be dificult to file elsewhere.

Few if any co-workers read the publications which list bankruptcy filers.
