Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

I am having an old friend claim that I stated in a text message that I would pay for a moving truck that took place 4 years ago in Florida. I can't recall the entire conversation, but I would have never agreed to what she is claiming that I owe her. A moving truck usually runs about $50-75. She is claiming over $1600. Stating the movers had to leave the goods in a storage place for a few days, etc.

Now, for the past 2 weeks, she has been threatening me with sending this case to small claims. She is complaining that she has no money and hasn't eaten a real meal in about a week. Now her home is about to go into foreclosure, etc. blaming me and other people that has done her wrong because everything has been a domino effect.. What should I do?

Unfortunately, it sounds like your old friend has fallen on hard times and is desperately making threats and casting about for any money she can find. It is truly a sad situation, but unless you are able and want to give her some money out of the goodness of your heart (in exchange for which, in light of her threat, I would request a release of her "claim" against you), I would recommend, from a legal perspective, not doing anything unless or until she actually files a lawsuit and serves you with the lawsuit papers.
