Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Receipt of goods paid in full

My mother has paid for cabinets to be built and installed in her kitchen. The cabinet company is in Florida, she lives in Virginia. All cabinets were done except nine cabinet doors. How does my mother go about getting the last of her product? ADDITIONALLY: I am a previous employee of the cabinet company (I resigned yesterday because of this problem.) The owner has been repeatedly asked to finish the doors and has not done so. I am also missing several paychecks. As a result of the obvious poor business practices, all of the employees have quit the company in the last few days. There are three other customers that have the same problem with my previous employer. I would like to get the cabinet doors and material that my mother paid for and have them finished elsewhere.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

Obviously, based on what you said, if all of the employees have quit, there is a slim chance of getting the doors anytime soon. Your mother should request the materials directly from the owner. If he refuses to comply, then she should have an attorney make a demand on her part. She may also wish to consider filing a complaint with the local Better Business Bureau and/or the office of the Consumer Advocate in the county where the company is located.
