Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

My supervisor was taliking to me like scumm. so i said "you have a slick mouth" he then threw his hard hat down got in my face (did not touch me) and said "come on bitch hit me hit me" i said " why? so you can fire me? " he then went inside to his supervisor . and he came out and said get your tools and get off the job site your fired, no your not fired. im going to give you a lay off so you can find another job and collect unemployment. is that legal? i didnt pick a fight and didnt fight or provoke a fight.

In Florida you can be terminated for most any reason that is NOT based on race, ethnicity, sex, or disability. So the simple answer is likely, Yes they can do that.
