Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

Jobsite discrimination due to epilepsy

I was interviewed a few times before being hired at my job. At no time did they ask nor was it on the application if I had any medical problems. A couple weeks ago my employer found out I have epilepsy only because I had to go for my semi-yearly visit.I gave them plenty of warning concerning my dr appt. When I called my boss after my appt and she told me that I should have told them that I have epilepsy because they would not have hired me. Ever since they have treated me horrible like I have some contagous disease amd I have turned purple. They took away some of my duties and they fired me 2 weeks after they found out about my epilepsy. Stating that they could not count on me, I will have to go to the dr too much. Please tell me what I should do?

Re: Jobsite discrimination due to epilepsy

Call the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission [EEOC]. They are in the blue [US goverment] pages in your phone book. Tell them you wish to make a complaint under the Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA]. They will take it from there. Good luck.
