band-aid in hamburger

i bought a pre-made hamburger paty at my local super-market. after cooking it and started to eat it, i discovered the used band-aid. can they be held responsible for !. failing to obvious sanitary regs. and 2. the possible diseases i've been subjected to.

The short answers are yes and yes. However, if the store disputes what you say it becomes a name-calling match between you and them. If there were witnesses, you need to have them write out witness statements of what they saw. You need to see a doctor immediately and get tested for all the common stuff (HIV, etc.), so you know if you have actually been exposed to anything. If you are fortunate and you don't get ill, then you have a nuisance value type case and you should try to negotiate a settlement with the store. If you do get sick and the doctor is willing to state it was caused by the contaminated food, then you may have a valuable case...but I hope for your sake you don't.
