Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I'm 21 years old and Social Security is coming after me for overpayment of SSI benefits that my parents received when I was underage. Can I sue my father for the amount that is owed?

I am confused as to why they are coming after you. Did you receive the checks and cash them. It would seem to me that the checks were issued to your parents as payee for you and that they would be the responsible party. I suggest you contact SSI department and find out if they were cashing those checks as payee and if so you ARE not responsible for them.
