Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

My Aunt occured a debt and is late paying a bill for fees accrued. She is Joint tenant with rights of survivorship in florida with my mother. Both are on social security,and the house is homestead exempt. What responsibility does my mother have to said lien if filed and how will it affect ownership if anything.
