High, My name is Marie and i have a question, I owe some credit cards and i am being sued by one of them but i get ssi money and my ssi gets direct deposited into my checking account. Only ssi gets deposited there. Can they take my ssi money from my account, like garnish it? Please let me know ASAP and what should i do.

Yes, they can take a certain percentage of your income by garnishment. Many companies threaten that in order to get you to pay. However, if your funds begin to get garnished and you are served with legal papers, please give me a call at 1-800-408-5818 to determine if we can stop the process. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do until the creditor takes action first.
