Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I live in Florida and I had a debt collector call my work yesterday and said that they would start garnishing my wages for not paying a payday loan. When I asked what payday loan she was talking about and who the company was, she rambled on about how my wages would be garnished if I did not pay it in full or make arrangements to pay it. Can they do this? To my knowledge the only payday loans that I took out have all been paid.

These actions may be a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or Florida Collection Practices Act. Keep notes on who calls you where they are from what dates and times the call, etc. You may want to hire counsel on these issues.
