Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

What are the obligations of children regarding the debts of a deceased parent? Specifically, an 80-year-old woman dies with a $65,000 mortgage; the house is "under water" and the children allow it to go to foreclosure. None of the children had an interest in the house; there were essentially no other estate assets requiring probate, which was avoided. Can the bank sue the children to recover outstanding mortgage plus expenses?
