Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Is there a statute of limitations on a debt?

My husband received a summons to appear for a deposition for a repo from 12 years ago. He bought a truck and couldn't afford it so he took it back and now 12 years later Ford Motor Credit is suing him. I am concerned because they want the titles to our home and cars. This took place before our marriage. We have 3 small children and he is the only income. Can they do this now?

What are our options? This doesn't even show up on his credit report. We received nothing until we got the summons in the mail. Then the sheriff came today with a copy of what we received in the mail. Thank you for any information that you can give me.
