Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Me & my brother If I was punch several times in the arm then put in a headlock and punched in the face a few times. I panic and grab the open pocket knife on the desk next to me. then when i try to get out of the headlock the desk chair moves and the knife cut his arm. (all while sitting in the chair) this all started becuase he dog became aggressive towards me and bit my pants. and i kicked AT it (did not hit it). what are the chances of me getting off for self defenses? I never meant for the knife to touch him, only to get him away from me. We still love each other and do not wish to see one of another. wwe before on Pre-Trail-Release and have no contact with each other. and is there any chance we both will get off the hook? or what might happen. I just turn 18 and he just turn 19

This is not a clear case of self defense but I think it can certainly be argued. You have every right to defend yourself, but it doesn't extend to using potentially deadly force when the situation doesn't call for it. It is crucial you hire an attorney to fight these charges in order to avoid jail or prison time. There are too many things that could happen to answer on here so take the time to sit down with an attorney and ask them.
