Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Car Search - Floida Law

We were pulled over for a having a tail light out, we werent doing anything wrong, but the guy driving had a suspended license for unpaid tickets. We were all asked to step out of the car and my friend gave them permission to search the car so that he would let us drive home. My girlfriend and I were passangers and were pulled aside to get questioned. We had no idea that they were searching his car, but he went through both of our purses as well. Which they found a few pills that were not in the proper containers and the two of us were arresting for possession of controlled substances. Did they a legal right to go through our purses without our permission even though they were in the car ?

Re: Car Search - Floida Law

it depends. technically when a search is incident to arrest the police can search the entire passenger compartment and the contents of any containers. i need to know more facts regarding consent to search. All My Best, Joe Vredevelt 305.670.3119.
