fist time domestic violence what happens when i go to court,will i have to go to prison?

Your first court date, is usually an arraignment, which is where you either plea guilty or not guilty and get a new court date. If you are not in jail now, it's unlikely that you will be arrested then, unless the prosecution decides to up your charges.
