Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Laws Regarding Internet Use

I am beginning to explore the Internet, and I wish to do it with with the maximum freedom, but without unintentionally breaking any laws. What specifically can I do (or not do) regarding sites visited, material viewed, or material downloaded?

Re: Laws Regarding Internet Use

The main area here is pornagraphy. Generally pornagraphy is not illegal however a good reading of your state's obscenity statutes would be a wise activity (in florida it is chapter 847). Child porn is heavily weighted with enforcement. Never download anything that you think would be illegal to possess. Always consider your activity on the internet to be monitored (in this freedom loving country of ours). Other sites are less definitive. Sites that espouse violence or hate are generally protected by freedom of speech but downloading a paper on how to build a bomb may actually violate some state and or federal laws.
