Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I live in Florida and I'm 18 years old. My girlfriend is 16, and her parents just made us break up and threatened to involve the police. I thought that minors of age 16 could consent to sex or relationships with up to a 24 years old. My question is what could be done to me legally if the relationship continued despite the parents but with consent of my girlfriend?

Yes it is legal to have sex with her, however, you're inviting trouble with her parents, and it is advisable that you not engage in a sexual relationship with a minor despite the legality.
