Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

It was my first offense. I pled no contest not knowing that it was the same thing as pleading guilty. I am a single mom and a college student studying Criminal Justice. This situation is stressing me out, i live in Chicago i want to know if i can have it expunged over here. It occured in Orlando Fl.

Pleading nolo is not the same as pleading guilty. The court may have found you guilty, but you did not plead guilty. To attempt to get the conviction expunged, you would need to present the issue to the court in Orlando. A Chicago court does not have the power to tell a Florida court to expunge its records.

I would be happy to help you with this. The only caveat is, you must have received a withhold of adjudication. In addition, you must have no other criminal history and, you can only seal the record at this time, not expunge it. Call me at 407-846-8008 or e-mail me.
