reconsideration of sentence

how do i go about writing a letter asking the court to reconsider the sentence of my husband. to a lower sentence or to allow him to get probation.

i would never advise someone writing to a court. everything you say will be sent to the prosecutor and thed defense and be recorded forever in the court file. you could say something to make the case worse without meaning to.

second, although a formal motion to mitigate a sentence can be filed within 60 days of a sentence they are almost never granted. judges rarely change or reduce their sentences.if they were in the habit of changing sentences they would never move on with new cases, they would be constantly bogged down in old cases. remember judges have already heard and considered just about every argument you could put forward. unless you have a legal basis ( then you should hire alwyer) to change the sentence, i would not make an emotional plea with the court with a letter.
