Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Florida

Question

A teacher took off his shoe and through it at my daughter hitting her and another student. The school never notified one of student parents. I want to know if it is the school's current policy to initiate an investigation that involves a minor and not notify the parents. I have no problem with the school board or the school resource officer investigating what happened but I do however have a problem with not being called nor told about it. Neither myself, nor my ex-husband was notified through any form of communication by school officials about this incident. No paperwork was ever sent home, and no phone calls were received from the school.

The school's principal is telling us that the did his job and he is giving me all this story about the incident, also he told me that is not policy that outlines that the school have to contact the parent by phone when iniciating an investigation involving a minor. The principal also told me that he contacted the other parent, because she was the one directly hit by the shoe, I guess he didn't care about my daughter because she is minority???
