Legal Question in Elder Law in Florida

Good Morning,

My mother asked me to help her do some estate planning by getting the right type of lawyer to assist her...She does not want the government to get their hands on money that her and my father have saved all of their lives to pass on to her 4 children...(God forbid one or both of them gets sick...She has been told by many people that the way to go is to see an Elders lawyer...I told her to see somebody that does trusts and estate planning...I am thinking that they are both similar...Which type of lawyer would be better able to help her to get what she wants accomplished...Also, what is the cost range for this type of service start to finish...Thanks in advance for your help and I hope that you have an outstanding Friday.

You should find an attorney who has experience with Wills, Trusts, and Estates, primarily, but the Elder Law attorney could have some valuable input as well. Many Estate attorneys have an understanding of the Elder law arena though.

Depending on the complexity of your mother's estate, you may prefer to seek an attorney who focuses on the Wills and Trusts and Estates a little more. The cost of these services vary widely based on many factors, including the complexity of the issues, the form of Estate planning, and even which part of the state you are in. You should expect to pay a consultation fee if the needs of the estate are complex, but if it's just a simple will, then you probably will not have a consultation fee, provided you hire the lawyer. Some of us will waive the consult fee if you use our services, or apply the consult fee to the cost of services.

Our firm works in elder care, and wills and estates, as do many others. You should find an attorney who will answer your questions and guide you through the process, but also is conservative with their recommendations and fees.

There are quite a few attorneys in the Hollywood area who are well qualified to assist you, and if you need a referral to any there please let me know.
