Legal Question in Elder Law in Florida

I hope I pick the right area of law. My parents are alcoholics and have both recently been diagnosed with dementia. My sister is their legal guardian for medical but we are wondering how we get authorization to get their will drawn up, sell their house and stuff like that? They still owe on the house, they own the property it's on, they have a vehicle, and we need to get rid of it all so we can provide the care they need now that they aren't able to live alone.

Hi there. You probably need an attorney who practices Estate Law. I do not, but I will give you a little bit of a point in the right direction. If your sister already has legal guardianship, then she has a power of attorney (attorney in fact) to handle their financial and estate planning matters. You should go see an Estate Law attorney who will help you and your sister know how to legally liquidate your parents' property so that you can provide health care for them.

Good luck to you.
