Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Florida

gun laws

In the State of Florida, if you obtain a legal concealed weapons permit, is it lawful to have your firearm loaded? Can you have clip or cartridge in your firearm as long as it is not cocked, or chambered? How do these laws apply to Relvolvers?

Re: gun laws

In Florida, as long as you have a concealed weapons permit on you, your driver's license or other ID on you, and your gun concealed on your person, you can have your gun loaded, a round chambered, and your finger squeezing the trigger. (I'm not, of course, advocating keeping one's finger on the trigger.)

The presumptive purpose of carrying a weapon is to protect oneself. An unloaded firearm isn't any more protection than a paperweight. Both revolvers and semi-automatics may be carried loaded with a permit -- cocked, chambered, or otherwise. Carrying a firearm is a personal choice, but carrying an unloaded firearm defeats the purpose.
