Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am 17 years old, dual enrolled at Santa Fe college, and currently looking for a job. I would like to get legal permission to be removed from my parents' custody. My mom has a history of drinking, battery, and depression. What are my best options? Also, since I currently have no income, would the government pay for me or parents or what?

I am sorry to hear you have a bad situation with your mom, and unfortunately, I do not have good news for you. You can contact the Dept of Children and Families, and they may remove you from your home (after investigation and determination) and place you in foster care. However, you would need to be abused, neglected, and/or in danger for the Dept to take custody of you. Even though you are almost an adult, the government will not pay for you to get your own place.

I really think it is best for you to wait until you are 18, and then you can go as you please.
