Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am American citizen and I want to adopt my two Korean stepchildren (they are Korean citizens). They are from my husband's previous marriage. (also a Korean citizen-- we haven not begun the green card process yet)

My husband has the full parental right and custody of the children. The ex-wife has a visitation right only.

I want to know if it is possible to adopt my two stepdaughters and send them to America to live with my mum so they can get a better education.

Where would I begin this process?

It would be a lot easier, faster and cheaper to begin the greencard process. Once they complete Consular Processing, they can immediately enter the US. Then your husband can give guardianship to your mom until the two of you re-enter the country and/or start the adoption process. You can begin this process right now from whereever you currently are. I handle immigration law as well as family law matters (although I am restricted to handling familylaw matters only in the state of Florida). For a free consulation, please contact my office at 904-576-2581 or email me at [email protected].
