Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child custody

What rights does the father of my unborn child have, when the child is born and I'm still in the hospital? I can't set up custody until after the baby is born and I don't want him coming into the hospital throwing his weigh around because he is the father. The baby will have his last name but I want full custody after baby is born. I live in the state of Florida, but I can't find any information or actual laws.

Re: child custody

If the father wants custody as well, or at least partial custody, you will have to show to the court that both (1) the best interest of the child is for you to have full custody; and, (2) that the father's NOT having custody at all is in the best interest of the child. In other words, you will have to fight and go to trial unless you and the father are in agreement.

I suggest you think about what is best for your child when considering custody and other such issues.
