My son has been living with me and i liet him visit his dad ofr the summer and now his dad won't return him to me. We have never been married and have never gone to court for custody. His dad is NOT on the birth certificate.I live in FL and the dad lives in AL. Can I get the police to escort me to get my son or can he just keep him?

Re: Child Custody

Unless Alabama law provides some kind of safe harbor for the father, you should be able to just go get your son. You may want to ask an Alabama lawyer to be sure.

The better plan, though, would be to seek a court order from a Florida court which orders the Alabama deputies to assist you in getting your son back. You should contact a Florida lawyer for help.
